Electrovibration

Electrovibration is based on the effect that sensory receptors in the skin can perceive textures. Electric charges simulate the sensation of localized vibrations and friction by mimicking shapes, textures, and contours (such as the sensation of pressing a button or key on a keyboard) on the touchscreens of tablets and other mobile devices or product surfaces. An electrical charge does not pass through the skin because the charge is created by moving over a conductive surface. A periodic electrostatic force is created that deforms the skin of the finger.
