Definition of Production engineering:

1. The planning and control of the manufacturing processes, plant, and equipment involved in the production of any manufactured product.

2. Design and application of manufacturing techniques to produce a specific product. It includes activities such as (1) planning, specification, and coordination of the use of resources, (2) analysis of producibility, productions processes, and systems, (3) application of methods, equipment, and tooling, (4) controlled introduction of engineering changes, and (5) application of cost control techniques.
